Nightly Gratitude: A Heartwarming Bedtime Routine for Mom & Toddler

As a mom juggling the demands of work and family life, finding moments of connection and gratitude can be challenging. However, I've discovered a nightly routine that not only brings a sense of peace to our bedtime but also teaches my 2-year-old son the importance of gratitude. Join us on this heartwarming journey of nightly gratitude as we give thanks for the blessings of the day, big and small.

The Nightly Routine: Every evening, after getting my little one ready for bed – a warm bath, fresh set of jammies, and the often challenging task of brushing his teeth – we embark on our nightly ritual. Nestled in bed, with the comforting hum of the sound machine and the room dimly lit, we begin our gratitude practice. Yes, we're co-sleeping, and yes, it's a work in progress as we transition to his toddler bed in our room, as recommended by our pediatrician.

Expressing Gratitude: The gratitude session starts with me, offering thanks to God for our family. Then, the magic unfolds as my son joins in, expressing gratitude for various aspects of his little world. It's heart-warming to hear him say, "Thank you, God, for Brooklyn (our Frenchie), daddy, Papa, Grandma, cousin, Uncle, my shirt, my pants." There was even a memorable moment when he gave thanks for Papa's trashcan – a testament to the innocence and beauty of a child's perspective.

The Sweetness of Gratitude: This nightly routine is more than just a bedtime activity; it's a sweet bonding experience that fills my heart with pride. Teaching my son to be grateful for both the significant and mundane aspects of life fosters a sense of appreciation for the world around him. It's a moment of connection that transcends the busyness of the day and brings us together in a shared expression of thanks.

Encouraging Others to Join In: As a fellow mom, I invite you to try incorporating this nightly gratitude ritual into your bedtime routine. Whether you're co-sleeping or tucking your little ones into their own beds, the beauty of expressing gratitude knows no boundaries. Share the joys and blessings of the day and witness the warmth and connection that it brings to your evenings.

In the hustle and bustle of being a mom and managing the delicate balance between work and family, finding moments of connection is priceless. Our nightly gratitude routine has become a cherished part of our day, bringing us closer and instilling in my son the value of being thankful for the simple joys of life. Give it a try, and let the magic of gratitude fill your bedtime moments with love and appreciation.
